Vascular Risks, Aging, and Late-Onset Dementia: Overlapping Etiologies Point to 'Scavenger Receptor'-Mediated Therapeutics

چکیده
Early changes in systemic vascular stiffness and endothelial function can contribute to altered cerebrovascular hemodynamics impaired cognitive function; additionally, these point potential targets for prevention treatment strategies people with mild impairment. Although the pathogenic mechanisms underlying are heterogeneous complex, one common feature is development of cerebral blood flow (CBF) dysregulation, resulting chronic hypoperfusion (CCH) subsequently an insufficient supply brain. However, incorporation drugs, or other bioactive molecules, into specifically a "high density lipoprotein-like" ("HDL-like") lipid nanocarrier result production multitasking "combination therapeutic" – capable targeting cell-surface scavenger receptors (mainly SR-BI). Such behavior this proposed (biomimetic-nanocarrier) therapeutic vehicle facilitate nanocarrier's enhanced endocytosis various target cells which, turn, increases likelihood that provides some efficacy at different stages dementia.

Childhood cognitive ability and risk of late-onset Alzheimer and vascular dementia.
BACKGROUND Risk factors for dementia can be divided into those that lead to pathologic insults and those that render the brain more vulnerable to such insults. Dementia prevention strategies need to be informed as to whether to prioritize reducing risk of pathology or to reduce the vulnerability of the brain to pathologic insult. Lower premorbid cognitive ability is associated with both increas...
متن کاملVery late-onset behavioral variant frontotemporal dementia
Current concepts regarding frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD) have evolved rapidly in recent years. Genetically determined FTLD cohorts have broadened our knowledge pertaining to its clinical presentation, neuroimaging findings and demographics. In this study we present a case report of a patient diagnosed with behavioral variant frontotemporal dementia diagnosis in her nineties during ho...
متن کاملAssociation of apolipoprotein E polymorphism in late-onset Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia in Brazilians.
The genetic basis for dementias is complex. A common polymorphism in the apolipoprotein E (APOE) gene is considered to be the major risk factor in families with sporadic and late-onset Alzheimer's disease as well as in the general population. The distribution of alleles and genotypes of the APOE gene in late-onset Alzheimer's disease (N = 68), other late-life dementias (N = 39), and in cognitiv...

of the cell envelope of gram-negative bacteria. The lipopolysaccharide (LPS) molecule is composed of three structural units; the O-polysaccharide, a core oligosaccharide and a lipophilic lipid A component. The lipid A portion represents the endotoxic component of LPS and is responsible for the typical endotoxin effects observed in mammals, such as fever, haemodynamic changes and disseminated in...
متن کاملVascular risk factors in late onset mania.
BACKGROUND Previous researches have suggested that late onset mania is a distinct subtype associated with medical and neurological disorders. Few studies, however, have focused on vascular risk factors. METHODS Records of 366 bipolar patients were reviewed and age of first psychiatric hospitalization determined. Late-onset cases were determined empirically from a distribution histogram. Late ...
